Go Big, Get Wild!

 

“Go Big, Get Wild” is the theme for the 2013 National Scout Jamobree at The SUMMIT Bechtel Scout Reservation July 15 – 24, 2013. Our Council is working in conjunction with the Midnight Sun Council to take two Troops and a Venturing Crew to the Jamboree. 

 

Adult Leadership Opportunities

We will be taking six adults in leadership roles to the Jamboree. At least 3 of the adults need to be 21 years old and three adults at least 18 by July 15, 2013. Adults who are selected to attend will be expected to Complete Scoutmaster or Varsity Coach Position Specific Training, Youth Protection Training and other applicable trainings required for a ‘Tour Plan.’

Candidates will be invited to interview during the last week of September 2011.

 

Participant Qualifications

Attending the first National Jamboree at The SUMMIT will be pinnacle Scouting experience. Young men must be at least 12 years of age by the first day of the Jamboree or an 11 year old that has completed the 6th grade, but has not reached his 18th birthday by the last day of the Jamboree.  Young men who plan to attend must be registered in a Boy Scout Troop or Varsity Scout Team and have achieved at least the rank of First Class Scout.

 

Young men and young women in Venturing Crews are also invited to attend the National Jamboree. They must have graduated the 8th grade, or be at least 14 years old by July 15, 2013 but not have reached their 21st birthday by the last day of the Jamboree.

Jamboree Highlights

  • Jamboree will provide all troop equipment – tents, cooking equipment, etc.
  • Participants will pack in Jamboree provided duffel bag and bring personal gear and sleeping bag.
  • Permanent campsites with bathroom facilities.
  • Lunch will be delivered with breakfast so Scouts will have them where ever they are.
  • Use of technology to deliver program content during the event.
