Camp Gorusch is now home to the largest camping program of the Great Alaska Council - Cub Scout camping! This camp is located on Mirror Lake and is part of the Rasmuson Scout Reservation. With options for day-camp or overnight resident camp, there's something for every Cub Scout and his family at Camp Gorsuch. Come join the fun!
Apply to be on Camp Staff!
Does your child enjoy spending the summer outdoors? Do they enjoy working as part of a team? Do they need to earn some money this summer? Then they should apply to work at one of the Great Alaska Council's summer camps! We are looking for outstanding young men and women to join our team in 2019. Working on camp staff is a great summer job and provides valuable work experience. Camp teaches teamwork, problem-solving, personal responsibility, and many other valuable skills. Paid positions are available for staff age 15 and up.
Day Camp is available to boys in all dens and runs Tuesday through Friday each week of camp. Cub Scouts arrive each morning at 8:45 a.m. with their leaders and parents and stay until closing flag at 4:45 p.m. On Friday they stay until 8:00 p.m. Lunch is provided all week for day campers along with dinner on Friday. Families are encouraged to come for dinner and a campfire program put on by the Cub Scouts on Friday Night. Dinner is at 5:15 p.m. and the campfire is at 6:30 p.m.
Wolves & Bears Resident Camp
Wolf and Bear dens arrive on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. All of the meals are provided starting Tuesday morning and ending with the Friday night dinner. Cub Scouts and their leaders will stay in cabins at camp. The cabins have bunk-beds with mattresses. Showers and flushing toilets are available. Participants will need to bring their own sleeping bags and personal hygiene items. Families are encouraged to come for dinner and a campfire program put on by the Cub Scouts on Friday Night. Dinner is at 5:15 p.m. and the campfire is at 6:30 p.m.
Webelos Resident Camp
Webelos dens arrive on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. All meals are provided starting Tuesday morning and ending with the Friday night dinner. Webelos will make some of their meals as part of their program. Webelos Scouts and their leaders will stay in tents at camp. The tents have wooden platforms. Showers and flushing toilets are available. Participants will need to bring their own sleeping bags and personal hygiene items. Families are encouraged to come for dinner and a campfire program put on by the Cub Scouts on Friday Night. Dinner is at 5:15 p.m. and the campfire is at 6:30 p.m.
Family Nights at Camp
Thursday and Friday nights are Family Nights at camp. Thursday features open program such as tandem canoeing, archery, rifle, and dodge ball! Friday night features a campfire program starring the Cub Scouts themselves. Dinner is available both nights: meals for children 3 and under are free, children 4 to 10 years old are $6 each, meals for people 11 and up are $10 each. Even though the registration system is tracking the names of youth and adults attending camp, it does not track payments for specific youth or adults. The registration system only tracks payment from the Pack as a whole. Packs are responsible for accounting for payments from its members towards camp.
Make sure to use only your unit account when registering, DO NOT use a personal or newly created account. Contact the scout office or your District Executive if you need the login information for your unit.
