Online Membership Enrollment

JOIN THE BSA at SCOUTINGALASKA.ORG

The Great Alaska Council is very excited to announce that online registration to join Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Venturing is live and working!

The online registration will only work for new youth and new adults.

The system will require payment for this year at $2 a month until November 2017; unless you are with a Pack or Troop sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the church pays the BSA directly for membership fees.

Starting December 1, 2017 the new cost for BSA membership is $33 a year or $2.75 a month.

The Council Staff has created links on the District webpages for parents to use to register themselves and their sons. They will go to their district page, then click on the right side of the page that shows the Packs or Troops. Every Pack or Troop has a direct link to join that unit!

NO TRANSFERS

The system gives the impression that will do transfers for youth and adults, but currently that function is not active. Youth and/or adults who are transferring (moving from one Pack/Troop to another Pack/Troop) will need to fill out a paper application and turn those into the Scout Office.

ACCEPTING NEW YOUTH

New youth will need to be approved by the Cubmaster/Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman or Chartered Organizational Representative using My.Scouting.org. Once you have logged into My.Scouting.org open up the Application Manager on the menu. This is where new youth are approved or re-directed to another unit.

Boys joining Cub Scout Packs sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will need to wait until after thier 8th birthday to enroll in Scouting using the online enrollment system.

ACCEPTING NEW ADULTS

New adults will need to be approved by the Chartered Organizational Representative (COR) using My.Scouting.org. The COR will first approve the adult, and then assign a position.

People who are serving as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman or Chartered Organizational Representative will need to still fill out a paper Adult Application and turn those in along with their Youth Protection Training.

Packs and Troops are responsible to make sure  their new adults who register online complete their Youth Protection Training within 30 days of joining using the online system.

Adults who are registering to be Merit Badge Counselors will continue to need an Adult Application and Merit Badge Form along with the Youth Protection Validation.
